The Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan & Rockland (CFOSR) administers a wide range of scholarship opportunities made possible by generous individuals, families, businesses, and organizations who believe in the power of education. These scholarships support students pursuing postsecondary education and training, including high school seniors, current college students, career and technical learners, and adults returning to school. Scholarship awards vary in amount and eligibility and may recognize academic achievement, leadership, community service, resilience, artistic or athletic talent, financial need, or a combination of these factors. Many scholarships are established as memorial funds, honoring remarkable lives while investing in future generations.
Students and families are encouraged to begin by exploring scholarship opportunities by county and high school, then apply to those for which they may be eligible.

Important 2026 Scholarship Deadlines
Primary Deadline for Most Scholarships:
Friday, April 10, 2026 at 5:00 PM
Final Courtesy Extension for Select Opportunities Only:
Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM
Important:
- Most scholarship applications should be submitted by Friday, April 10 at 5:00 PM
- A limited number of scholarships may remain open through Sunday, April 12 at 11:59 PM
- Some scholarships with low application volume may remain open beyond that date, up to April 30, 2026, but this is not guaranteed
- Students should not rely on April 30 as the standard deadline
To be safe, applicants should plan to complete and submit all materials as early as possible.
Start Here: How Most CFOSR Scholarships Work
Most CFOSR scholarships require applicants to first complete a Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application. Once that application is completed, students can access the scholarships they qualify for by using the 10-digit access codes listed at the bottom of the Universal application.
Please note: Submitting the Universal Application alone does not apply you for scholarships. Each scholarship requires its own separate application.

High School Seniors
Graduating high school seniors should begin by completing:
Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application – High School Students
As you complete the Universal application, the system will display scholarships you may be eligible for at the bottom of the application, along with the 10-digit access codes needed to open each scholarship application. You can return to your submitted Universal application in the portal at any time to copy and paste access codes when applying.

Adult & Continuing Education Scholarships
If you are returning to school, currently enrolled in college, or pursuing a certificate program, scholarships are available for adult learners across Orange, Sullivan, and Rockland Counties.
All applicants access scholarships through our Scholarship Portal.
Adult learners should complete the:

Once completed, applicants can use any available access codes to open and apply for individual scholarship opportunities.

How to Apply
All CFOSR scholarships are managed through our online Scholarship Portal.
Step 1: Create a Scholarship Portal Account
Create an account in the Scholarship Portal.
Step 2: Complete the Correct Universal Application
After registering, complete the application that applies to you:
- Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application – High School Students
- Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application – Adults / Continuing Education
Be sure to select the application that matches your student status.
Step 3: Find Your Access Codes
As you complete the Universal application, the system will display scholarships you may be eligible for at the bottom of that application. Each scholarship will have its own 10-digit access code.
You may return to your Universal application in the portal at any time to view and copy those codes.
Step 4: Open Each Scholarship Application
To open a scholarship application:
- Open your submitted Universal application
- Scroll to the bottom and copy the 10-digit access code for the scholarship you want to apply for
- Click the Apply button in the portal
- Paste the code into the Access Code box
- Open and complete the scholarship application
Step 5: Submit Each Scholarship Application Separately
Each scholarship requires its own application and may require additional materials, such as:
- Essays
- Letters of recommendation
- Transcripts
- Other supporting documentation
Important: Documents uploaded to one scholarship application do not automatically carry over to another. Supporting materials must be uploaded within each individual scholarship application.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to begin early to allow enough time to gather documents and complete all application requirements before the deadline.
Important Note for Rockland County Scholarships
Most scholarships administered by CFOSR use the Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application to determine eligibility. However, some Rockland-administered scholarships follow a separate application process this year and may not require completion of the Universal Scholarship Eligibility Application. Please review the instructions listed on each individual scholarship page carefully.
Please Read Before You Submit
- Completing the Universal Application does not automatically submit scholarship applications
- You must use the access codes listed in your Universal application to open individual scholarship applications
- Each scholarship must be completed and submitted separately
- Required documents must be uploaded to each scholarship application individually
- Incomplete applications may not be considered
- Scholarship awards are paid directly to the educational institution the student attends and are applied toward eligible educational expenses
