The David T. Cocks Walden Savings Bank Scholarship Fund

The David T. Cocks Walden Savings Bank Scholarship Fund has been established to celebrate the life and honor the memory of David T. Cocks. On June 19, 2011, David T. Cocks, President of Walden Savings Bank, passed away suddenly. He was a man of great character, a devoted family man and friend to many, who truly made a difference in the lives of those he touched. Whether as President of Walden Savings Bank or in his many volunteer roles, he exemplified the definition of character and left a legacy of service and good work.


David T. Cocks Walden Savings Bank Scholarship

The David T. Cocks Walden Savings Bank Scholarship awards one (1) scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to a graduating senior from each of the school districts and private high schools listed below. Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate strong character, academic achievement, participation in school activities, community service, and potential for future success.

Primary consideration is given to graduating seniors who have completed an Eagle Scout Project. Secondary consideration is given to graduating seniors who have received a Scholar Athlete Award, including the OCIAA (Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association), MHAL (Mid Hudson Athletic League), or an equivalent scholar athlete award recognized by their school district.

  • Chapel Field Christian School
  • Cornwall Central School District
  • Florida Union Free School District
  • Goshen Central School District
  • John S. Burke Catholic High School
  • Marlboro Central School District
  • Newburgh Enlarged City School District
  • New Paltz Central School District
  • Pine Bush Central School District
  • Valley Central School District
  • Wallkill Central School District
  • Warwick Valley Central School District
  • Washingtonville Central School District

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior from one of the eligible school districts or private high schools listed above
  • Demonstrate character, academic achievement, school involvement, and community service
  • Have completed an Eagle Scout Project, or be a recipient of a recognized Scholar Athlete Award
  • Have been accepted to, and ultimately matriculate as, a full-time student at an accredited college or university located in the United States

Applications are submitted through the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan & Rockland’s online scholarship portal as part of the annual universal scholarship cycle.
