The Devin Michael Housman Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to one graduating student from a high school in Orange County and one graduating student from a high school in Sullivan County. Both students will have special education classifications (IEPs) and will be pursuing careers in the arts. The students will also have displayed kindness to others.

Devin Michael Housman Memorial Scholarship

The Devin Michael Housman Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship support to graduating high school seniors from Orange County and Sullivan County who demonstrate artistic ability, creativity, resilience, and kindness toward others. This scholarship honors the memory of Devin Michael Housman by supporting students whose educational journeys required perseverance and meaningful support, and who have developed empathy and character as a result.

The scholarship is intended for students with a deep passion for the arts—including fashion design, drawing, animation, and the performing arts—who aspire to pursue an artistic career and use their creativity to make a positive impact in the world.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be a graduating high school senior from Orange County or Sullivan County
• Be pursuing a career path in the arts (such as fashion design, drawing, animation, or the performing arts)
• Meet the eligibility requirements associated with this scholarship, which reflect students whose educational journeys required sustained support and perseverance
• Demonstrate kindness, positive character, and a commitment to using creativity for good

Applicants must also submit:

• An essay (300 words or fewer) responding to the prompt:
  “How do you plan to use your artistic abilities to change the world for the better?”
• Three (3) samples of original artwork, identifying the medium used
  • Preference is given to work created freehand, without the aid of a computer
  • Artwork may be uploaded directly or submitted as links (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
  • If submitting links, sharing permissions must be set to “Anyone with the link can view”

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the Universal Scholarship Application and submit any required materials.
