James and Eleanor Cain Scholarship Fund

Date Established: March 24, 2017

Established in memory of James and Eleanor Cain, this scholarship fund was created to recognize and support civic-minded students with a strong commitment to community involvement. Originally serving students from the former Roscoe Central School District, the fund now supports eligible students from the Rockland Central School District, reflecting the district’s merger with Livingston Manor.

The James and Eleanor Cain Memorial Scholarship honors the legacy of service and community engagement exemplified by James and Eleanor Cain by assisting students who demonstrate outstanding civic responsibility as they continue their education at the college level.


James and Eleanor Cain Memorial Scholarship

The James and Eleanor Cain Memorial Scholarship awards three (3) scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each, disbursed over two years, to graduating seniors from the Rockland Central School District. This scholarship supports students who demonstrate strong civic engagement and meaningful involvement in their community and who plan to attend a two- or four-year college.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior from the Rockland Central School District
  • Plan to attend a two- or four-year college
  • Demonstrate community involvement and civic responsibility
  • Preference is given to students who show outstanding community service
  • Submit a brief essay of 100 words or less explaining why they believe they deserve the scholarship

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the Universal Scholarship Application and submit all required materials.
