John Mazur Memorial Scholarship Fund

Date Established: June 4, 2014

Created to celebrate and honor the life of John Mazur, this fund provides scholarships to students at Valley Central High School who are taking classes and pursuing an occupation or vocation in the field of agriculture; including horticulture, veterinary medicine, landscape architecture, environmental engineering, forestry, agribusiness, botany, or biology.


John Mazur Memorial Scholarship

The John Mazur Memorial Scholarship awards four (4) scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each to students of Valley Central High School who are pursuing education or training in agriculture-related fields. This scholarship supports students whose academic and career interests reflect an appreciation for agriculture and its vital contribution to society.

The Fund is intended primarily for graduating seniors of Valley Central High School; however, scholarships may also be awarded to underclassmen for approved college summer enrichment programs.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a student at Valley Central High School
  • Be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, one of the following:
    • An accredited two- or four-year college or university
    • A vocational or technical training program
    • An approved college summer enrichment program
  • Plan to pursue an occupation or vocation in an agriculture-related field, including but not limited to:
    • Horticulture
    • Veterinary medicine
    • Landscape architecture
    • Environmental engineering
    • Forestry
    • Agribusiness
    • Botany
    • Biology
    • Other agriculture-related fields
  • Demonstrate an appreciation for the role agriculture plays in society
  • Show a record—either in or outside of school—that indicates a strong likelihood of successfully completing their chosen program

Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation.

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the Universal Scholarship Application and submit any required materials.
