Lloyd F. Sweet, Sr. Music Education Scholarship Fund

Date Established: March 22, 2022

The Lloyd F. Sweet, Sr. Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior from Orange County who is pursuing a degree in music education. Preference will be given to students from the Middletown City School District who have demonstrated musical talent and passion and have actively participated in band, orchestra, or chorus.

A $2,000 annual award will be granted to the selected recipient.


Lloyd F. Sweet, Sr. Music Education Scholarship

The Lloyd F. Sweet, Sr. Music Education Scholarship awards one (1) $2,000 scholarship annually to a graduating senior from Orange County who plans to pursue a degree in music education. This scholarship supports students who demonstrate musical ability, commitment, and a desire to teach and inspire others through music.

Preference is given to graduates of Middletown High School who meet the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior from an Orange County high school
  • Plan to pursue a degree in music education
  • Demonstrate musical ability and interest through participation in band, orchestra, or chorus
  • Submit a brief essay addressing the following:
    • Why they are interested in pursuing a career in music education
    • The major influence (person or experience) behind this decision
    • Their plans after receiving a degree in music
    • The individual who has had the greatest impact on their interest in the study of music
    • Any personal or family circumstances they feel are relevant

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the Universal Scholarship Application and submit any required materials.
