Sullivan County Bar Association Fund

This fund will distribute scholarships annually in the name of Ira Cohen to students living in the Sullivan County area who are pursuing a career in the legal field.


SCBA/Ira Jay Cohen Scholarship

The Ira Jay Cohen Scholarship was established by the Sullivan County Bar Association to honor the memory of Ira Jay Cohen, a lifelong resident of Sullivan County and a dedicated attorney and public servant. This scholarship supports graduating high school seniors from Sullivan County who plan to pursue a career in public service or law. Two (2) scholarships in the amount of $750 each are awarded annually to students continuing their education at the college level.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating high school senior from Sullivan County
  • Plan to attend college and pursue a career in public service or law
  • Submit a personal statement of 500–1,000 words introducing themselves and explaining their interest in public service or the legal profession

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the Universal Scholarship Application and submit all required materials electronically.
