The Mary Ellen Albarino Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Mary Ellen Albarino Memorial Scholarship Fund will distribute scholarships annually to a graduating senior from John S. Burke High School and a student attending Thevenet Montessori School. The scholarship for a graduating John S. Burke High School student will be for costs associated to furthering the student’s education. The scholarship for a Thevenet Montessori School student will be for costs associated with attending Thevenet Montessori School.

The scholarship for a Burke Catholic student will be awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates the qualities that Mary Ellen Albarino possessed – kindness, generosity, empathy, selflessness, and a strong desire to help others and care for people in need. The scholarship for a Thevenet Montessori student will be based on financial need. Mary Ellen Albarino raised three children mostly on her own while working two jobs, and she would want to help another family/parent that might be struggling.


Mary Ellen Albarino Memorial Scholarship

The Mary Ellen Albarino Memorial Scholarship awards one (1) scholarship in the amount of $250 to a graduating senior from John S. Burke High School. This scholarship honors the memory of Mary Ellen Albarino by recognizing students who demonstrate kindness, generosity, empathy, selflessness, and a strong desire to help others—qualities that defined her life and legacy.

Eligibility & Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a graduating senior from John S. Burke High School
  • Submit a written response of 350 words or less describing how they demonstrate the qualities Mary Ellen Albarino was known for, including kindness, generosity, empathy, selflessness, and a commitment to caring for others

Students must create a profile in the CFOSR Scholarship Portal to view and apply for scholarship opportunities connected to this fund. Once logged in, applicants will be able to access the application and submit all required materials.
